A technical architect working on a government modernization initiative usually needs to understand both the current environment and the constraints that shape the future state. That can include legacy systems, identity, networking, cloud services, integration, data, security and enterprise standards.

A useful architecture process starts with business and technical requirements, documents the current state, identifies constraints and evaluates realistic options. The target architecture should be accompanied by transition steps, dependencies and implementation guidance rather than existing only as a diagram.

Architects also need to work closely with security and privacy specialists. Decisions about identity, logging, data movement, hosting, encryption and administration can directly affect authorization and privacy outcomes.

On a resume, describe the decisions you influenced, the artifacts you created and how your architecture was used by implementation teams. Naming products is helpful, but explaining your design responsibility is more important.
